Why the iPhone X, XR, and XS battery wears out

These phones launched in 2017 and 2018, which makes the original cells about eight years old. Lithium-ion batteries lose capacity with every charge cycle no matter how carefully you treat them, and Apple rates them for 80% capacity at around 500 full cycles on this generation.
